CENPA Associate Director

The Center for Experimental Nuclear Physics and Astrophysics has an outstanding opportunity for an Associate Director.

The University of Washington seeks to appoint an Associate Director for CENPA (see http://www.npl.washington.edu/), one of the Department of Energy's Centers of Excellence in Nuclear Physics. The Associate Director undertakes the day-to-day management of a basic research laboratory with approximately 50 faculty, staff, graduate students and undergraduate employees, and assists the Director with the management of personnel, preparation of budgets and proposals, and operations, including operation of a nuclear physics accelerator. The Associate Director is also expected to participate in research in one or more of the areas supported by the DOE grant. Opportunities are available for teaching and advising graduate students for qualified individuals. The position is a Research Scientist position within the University, and is not tenurable.

Requirements:

Applicants must have a Masters or higher in nuclear or particle physics or related field. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, and 6 or more years experience in a senior role managing group activities in a large collaboration or laboratory.

PhD in nuclear or particle physics or related field.
