Title:

g-2 Calorimeter Gain Sag Measurements at CENPA

Abstract:

Since the first publication of the Fermilab g-2 measurements, a residual slow gain-like effect has been observed in calorimeter data. In previous analyses, this has been modeled as a reconstruction driven effect with a negligible impact on the final results. Recently, new studies have shown that this may also be due (at least in part) to a subtle hardware level effect. In preparation for the final g-2 publication, a campaign has been launched at CENPA to investigate this hypothesized gain effect to high precision. This has the potential to impact the final precession frequency analysis value at the ~20 ppb level, significant on the scale of our total (systematic + statistical) uncertainty of 140 ppb.
