Title:

Dark matter in supernovae and neutron stars

Abstract:

I will discuss ideas (old and new) to use observation of neutron stars and supernovae to constrain properties of candidate dark matter particles. Weakly interacting particles with masses less than a few hundred MeV can be produced during a supernova and play a role in the birth and evolution of neutron stars. I will describe the essential associated nuclear physics and astrophysics, and identify observables to discern their effects and derive useful constraints.
