Improving Electronics Deconvolution in LEGEND-200

Abstract:

LEGEND-200 uses several pulse shape discrimination (PSD) techniques to minimize background in the region of interest for neutrinoless double beta decay. The efficiencies of these PSD routines are sensitive to how well the electronics response of the signal chain is understood and deconvolved. Based on the charge-sensitive amplifier used in LEGEND-200, one might expect the digitized signals to be purely exponential; however, the signals observed are better modeled by the sum of two decaying exponentials. In this talk, I will present an algorithm to identify the time constants of these exponentials and a digital filter to remove their presence in LEGEND-200's signals. The physical origin of these time constants will also be discussed.
