Rotation Sensing and Newtonian Noise in Gravitational Wave Detectors

Abstract:

In this talk I will discuss updates on the development of a rotation sensor for LIGO's seismic isolation system and how it can improve the detector's sensitivity as a whole. Additionally, I'll discuss the causes of Newtonian noise (noise caused by tiny fluctuations in the gravitational field), its impact on current and future gravitational wave detectors, and what can be done to correct for it.
