The TopmetalSe: A low-noise CMOS pixel array for the charge readout of aSe

Abstract:

The TopmetalSe is a CMOS charge-sensing pixel array designed for the Selena Neutrino Experiment, where it will be directly coupled to an enriched amorphous Selenium layer for a 0vbb search. The exposed topmetal layer will allow topmetalSe to reconstruct ionization tracks from double beta events with high spatial and temporal resolution. In this talk, I will introduce the first prototype of the TopmetalSe, which was designed at CENPA and fabricated in the open-source Skywater 130nm process. I will share results from the design and testing of the pixel frontends, the readout structure, imaging capabilities and packaging.
